{"id":3167,"date":"2013-09-23T13:48:45","date_gmt":"2013-09-23T20:48:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.coolkarma.com\/dharma\/?p=3167"},"modified":"2013-09-23T13:49:01","modified_gmt":"2013-09-23T20:49:01","slug":"no-static-at-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.karmabytes.net\/?p=3167","title":{"rendered":"No Static At All &#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tech Tip 194:\u00a0 When all else fails TURN THE DAMN THING OFF!!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve had a problem with my touchpad that&#8217;s been driving me crazy when I type.\u00a0 The cursor jumps all around the page and I end up typing in the middle of a paragraph at the top of the screen.\u00a0 Being the geek that I am, I googled and tried every mouse and touch pad setting possible.\u00a0 I turned OFF gestures, turned ON gestures and even gave my laptop a few Italian gestures of my own in the process.\u00a0 But nothing worked.<\/p>\n<p>I disabled so much of my touchpad that it was basically a two button mouse on life support.\u00a0 And still, my cursor would jump willy nilly while I typed.<\/p>\n<p>Until this morning!!!\u00a0 I was typing a blog (go figure) and getting frustrated with my aimless cursor and gave the Google gods one more go at a fix.\u00a0 This time, I came across a short post that said the problem could be a build up of static electricity on the laptop.\u00a0 The solution was to turn the laptop OFF and take OUT the battery.\u00a0 Then after a breath or two, to replace the battery and power her back up.<\/p>\n<p>Amazed as I am, it WORKED!\u00a0 In fact, I turned on EVERY GESTURE and gizmo my touch pad has and STILL my pointer stays put as I type.<\/p>\n<p>Hmmm&#8230;.. what else can I TURN OFF around the house to get it to start working?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"640\" height=\"480\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/HV3zWSawJiw?hl=en_US&amp;version=3\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tech Tip 194:\u00a0 When all else fails TURN THE DAMN THING OFF!!
