{"id":3950,"date":"2015-10-22T23:09:49","date_gmt":"2015-10-23T06:09:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.coolkarma.com\/dharma\/?p=3950"},"modified":"2015-10-22T23:09:49","modified_gmt":"2015-10-23T06:09:49","slug":"dannys-song","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.karmabytes.net\/?p=3950","title":{"rendered":"Danny&#8217;s Song"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4FDcTyyXQb8\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I cried today when I heard the cardiologist on the phone tell my son that the test results were in and he &#8220;&#8230; had POTS, just like your mother &#8230;&#8221; \u00a0\u00a0I hugged my son in an awkward tear filled moment of &#8220;Mom, why are you crying, you know I have POTS?!&#8221; \u00a0And its true, of course I do. \u00a0He&#8217;s been sick for a long time now. \u00a0But somehow hearing it confirmed by all of those &#8220;tests&#8221; and specialists &#8230; feels like another brick in the wall of a life limiting illness.<\/p>\n<p>Its one thing to be sick and know the intimacy of suffering on a daily basis. \u00a0However I can not imagine many things that are more heart wrenching than to see your child struggle. \u00a0It simply breaks my heart.<\/p>\n<p>I know those 18 hour headaches, the gastrointestinal turmoil, the bone crushing fatigue and muscle spasms plus the emotional rollercoaster that comes with the total package. \u00a0And yet, his pain is unique unto him. \u00a0His strategies and coping mechanisms are being fine tuned on the fly and I am utterly impressed by how well he manages the nuances of a disabling illness.<\/p>\n<p>But being a mother means always being open and vulnerable to our children&#8217;s pain.
