{"id":3970,"date":"2016-01-01T09:34:35","date_gmt":"2016-01-01T16:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.coolkarma.com\/dharma\/?p=3970"},"modified":"2016-01-01T09:34:55","modified_gmt":"2016-01-01T16:34:55","slug":"3970","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.karmabytes.net\/?p=3970","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3971\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coolkarma.com\/dharma\/wp-content\/uploads\/YellowBrickRoad.jpg\" alt=\"YellowBrickRoad\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.karmabytes.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/YellowBrickRoad.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.karmabytes.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/YellowBrickRoad-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.karmabytes.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/YellowBrickRoad-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be able to know how things turn out. \u00a0What happens next, Who done it, How will it end. \u00a0By the plethora of fortune tellers in the yellow pages we might assume that my worry wort mind is not alone in its desire to see beyond the Verizon. \u00a0Indeed each culture has its own brand of answerman. \u00a0Shamans, seers, psychic, mediums, clairvoyant, wizards, witches or prophet. \u00a0Whether they use a crystal ball, tarot card, i ching or the bible there is someone willing to tell you the answers you are looking for &#8230; for a price. \u00a0Because wisdom accepts paypal.<\/p>\n<p>The industry thrives because it serves a purpose. \u00a0To tell the future? \u00a0No. \u00a0Because the future is the ultimate unknowable. \u00a0The purpose is to quiet the mind, at all cost, even for just a blink of an eye of newt. \u00a0And that is what we are seeking when we ask what is around the curve in the road up ahead. \u00a0We want to make peace with a mind that is feeling unsettled. \u00a0We want to KNOW what will happen so we can &#8212; prepare, avoid, tackle, relax, or otherwise execute the\u00a0<em>right<\/em> next step so that we can float in our happy bubble a little while longer.<\/p>\n<p>I want to know answers even though I know better. \u00a0I am aware of my own tendency to believe the \u00a0conditioned stories of the egoic mind. \u00a0Some version of ..
