FFS DO BETTER JIF

Jif almond and cashew labels

As my lips were puffing and irritated after having a spoonful of Jif Almond butter, I went to check the ingredients. I know … Most people with food sensitivities READ LABELS BEFORE they consume anything. And I’m one of those read twice, swallow once rule people. But I thought maybe I missed something because that familiar facial sensation was reminiscent of having something on my ban list.

I’m typically fine if a product processing plant has other nuts nearby. Thusf ar in life my allergies are not life threatening and I typically do fine with transient dust particles.

So it was no surprise to me that the label listed almost every but known to nutters with the typical May contain….

HOWEVER under the list of ingredients there is an unfortunate post note that reads that the jar CONTAINS ALMONDS AND CASHEWS.

It doesn’t say MAY contain. It says in fact it DOES CONTAIN.

Problem is, for me, that on online shopping descriptions ONLY THE INGREDIENTS are listed. And neither jar list the cross but inclusion in the list of ingredients. So we are apt to miss this.

My only guess is that Jif tried to be efficient in their but grinding workflow and leave cashews and almonds in the same bin. Otherwise if they were being mindful .. they would list the other but in the MAY CONTAIN section.

Frankly this blows. Either bifurcate the nuts or include them proper in the LIST OF INGREDIENTS!!!
